The Climate Protection Campaign Team

The Cool Agents Alliance is a unique business program partnering real estate agents with Cool Schools in Sonoma County. Homebuyers and homesellers can feel proud knowing that the real estate agent they work with directly supports educational and environmental initiatives in Sonoma County.

In 2003, through the generous contributions of over 20 Sonoma County real estate agents, the Climate Protection Campaign leveraged free energy efficiency programs for six Sonoma County high schools and one elementary school. Today, Cool Schools brings educational resources and solution based activities to schools and youth in Sonoma County, engaging students to take action at school and in their community to reduce emissions causing global climate change. Through partnerships between school districts and the Climate Protection Campaign, linking education with energy savings, schools save money resulting from reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate Protection Campaign has been leading Sonoma County's initiatives to prevent global climate change. In 2002, Sonoma County became the first county in the nation to pledge, together with all nine of its cities, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In May 2005, the Climate Protection Campaign convened a workshop to agree upon a greenhouse gas reduction target for Sonoma County, where 32 community members came to consensus that Sonoma County should reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 25% below 1990 levels by 2015, the boldest emission reduction target set by any community in the United States to date. As of September 2005, the recommended target has now been adopted by all nine of Sonoma's city governments and the county.

In 2004, to build on the successful relationship between real estate agents and Cool Schools, the Climate Protection Campaign developed a model business program for real estate agents in Sonoma County County. The aim of this collaboration is to develop a local and sustainable funding base for the Cool Schools program and to support our local economy. We hope that people who recognize that economic choices affect our environmental and social choices will recognize the benefits of the Cool Agents Alliance.

The Cool Agents Alliance works with a distinguished group of real estate agents, offering them select business serivices as they support our schools and youth. We want this model business program to grow to benefit every student in Sonoma County, and we hope that you chose to work with a Cool Agent for your next home purchase or sale.
